課程概述

The objectives of risk management are to maximize the likelihood of favorable outcomes, and to minimize the likelihood of unfavorable outcomes. Aiming to manage risk and reliability of process plants, this course has the following features:
1. Provides a source for reasonable understanding across the whole field of risk management and risk assessment.
2. Focuses on the how, what, and why of risk management using a consistent and well organized writing style interspersed with case studies, examples, exercises, as well as end matter.
3. Fills a need in the area of risk assessment and risk management in the process and chemical engineering industry as an essential multi-audience reference/resource tool, useful to managers and students.
4. Industrial safety will be emphasized.

課程目標
To let students have ideas about risk assessment, control and management and to introduce methods used in risk assessment based on the instructor’s own research experience.
課程要求
Students are asked to make (group) oral presentation on particular topics assigned by the instructor and listed below. Students can consult with the instructor in preparing their ppt files before the presentation. Instructor will offer additional explanations and make comments at the classroom. Students are then asked to write individual reports on content presented that week for at least ten times. For the second half of the semester, students are asked to make the second (group) oral presentation on subjects related to risk assessment & management and Industrial Safety. A final written report by each student on any subject related to risk assessment & management and Industrial Safety is required for the substitution of final examination.
